Types of Therapy

Dramatherapy

Dramatherapy is a creative form of psychotherapy that uses drama, storytelling, play, movement and imagination to help people explore emotions, experiences and relationships. It offers a safe and important space to make sense of what is happening inside, develop new perspectives and find ways to move forward.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that helps people process and heal from distressing experiences, memories and emotions that may feel stuck or overwhelming. While originally developed to support people affected by trauma, EMDR is now used to help with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, phobias, panic, depression, addictions, low self esteem, distressing memories and traumatic experiences.

Using guided techniques including bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports the brain’s natural ability to make sense of experiences, helping memories feel less overwhelming and creating space for healing and change.

DBT Skills

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy that is based on cognitive behaviour therapy, and is designed for people who experience emotions very intensely and teaches them how to accept difficult feelings, build practical coping skills, and make positive changes to live a better life.

With DBT skills integrated into the approaches where needed, we can discuss skills and tools needed to help better understand and manage emotions, cope with difficult situations and build healthier relationships. Through learning skills around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and communication, DBT helps support people to feel more in control and develop self-compassion and respond to life’s challenges in more helpful ways.

DBT skills are not offered as a standalone therapy programme within my practice; instead, these approaches are thoughtfully integrated when requested, or relevant, to individual needs.

Verbal Psychotherapy

Sometimes, you might just be looking for a place to talk. Alongside creative approaches, I provide a safe and supportive space to explore thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships. Through conversation and reflection, I can help you to develop greater understanding of yourself, process difficult experiences, build on strengths and find new ways of coping.

My therapy sessions are shaped around each individual, offering a space where you can be heard, understood and supported without judgement.
